TVC Collegiate Volunteer Program
TVC Collegiate Volunteer Program:
Trinity Volunteers partner with Dominican University pre-occupational therapy students in semester long assignments across campus to accomplish critical volunteer tasks in the library, garden, greenhouse, Athletic Department, kitchen and Performing Arts Department.
These two photos of the Dominican greenhouse exemplify “the magic” of our Trinity Volunteer pairs and the joy they bring to their collegiate volunteer work! Before: August, 2014 and After: November, 2014
Trinity Volunteer Derek Withers and Dominican University student Lauren Kaspryzk work in Dominican’s English Language School as conversation partners helping students from a variety of foreign countries perfect their use of the English language. They also help in the garden and in the greenhouse.
Trinity Volunteer David Espinosa and Dominican University student Vanessa Guillen work in the Dominican Archives scanning important documents. They also work in the university library supporting the ongoing effort to dust all the books and shelves and they enjoy helping out in the greenhouse.
PHOTO #4 — Trinity Volunteer Andrew Effgen and Dominican University student Julia Guimond are shown here working in the greenhouse where they are growing herbs in consultation with a local chef who has used these herbs in a cooking demonstration preparing a big Saturday afternoon meal for our Trinity Volunteer Corps to enjoy together at his restaurant which is very appropriately named “Friendship Chinese Restaurant.”
Trinity Volunteer Jackie Finn and Dominican Universtiy student Yusra Akhlaq are “utility players” working on a lot of different projects throughout the university as needed. Jackie is especially fond of working in the Athletic Department with the basketball and volleyball teams; she makes sandwiches and fruit cups in the kitchen and helps with the library dusting project. Here they are working in the greenhouse.
